Visual Magic’s first class, VFX20, is about to finish its second semester. We’ve asked seven quick questions to one of the students – Clover – to offer a little insight into what it’s like to be a VFX student here with us!

Why do you want to work as a VFX artist?
It feels like a perfect way to combine artistic and technical interests and at the same time contribute to creating something that can hopefully be of joy to other people.

Why did you choose Visual Magic in particular?
Not least because of the practical approach that comes with a vocational education and the close connection to companies and a sharp production environment. The broad base with the possibility of specialization later was also attractive.

What specialization do you plan to choose?
I plan to choose the 3D specialization because it encompasses my main interests to a greater extent – modeling, sculpting, rigging, animation and cfx.

What is the most fun to create?
Organic shapes, deformations and everything that moves!

What do you like to do in your free time?
Mainly to learn more in the field on my own with all the resources we get from school, but also to hang out with nice people, soak up culture and engage in various forms of physical activity.

What do you think of Skellefteå as a student city?
Skellefteå is large enough to offer variety while everything is within affordable distances, where the campus becomes like a small hub between student housing and the city center. Even on a mental and attitudinal level, the distances are short in such a way that it feels close at hand to make contact with companies and actors in the area.

What is the best thing about being a VFX artist for games and film?
The opportunity to explore and learn through practical experience, receive support and help from both teachers and from each other and not least the very good atmosphere that has characterized the entire education.
