In Visual Magic’s first year, VFX20, we find Deniz.
Why do you want to work as a VFX artist?
I have always loved effects in films and therefore wanted to work with it. I have a background in film/video production and a bit of motion graphics – but creating things and combining it with other material and making it look real – that’s something I love.
Why did you choose Visual Magic?
I chose Visual Magic when I saw the course content and the companies behind the education. The largest game and film companies are behind Visual Magic and this means that you can expand your network during the education. The course content was also very attractive – with the different programs, working methods and lecturers. It was a clear choice for me.
What specialization will you choose?
I will choose Digital Compositing because I have a background in film and believe that compositing is what ties everything together. It is one of the last things you do, to make things look real. I find it challenging and fun.
What’s the most fun thing about creating?
As I said, I think the most fun thing is compositing, being able to put other people’s stuff together so that it ultimately looks real. But also grading, filming, editing and playing with the latest technology – which Visual Magic is constantly developing – is super fun.
What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time, I go to the gym, play with my dog, and watch lots of tutorials or online courses about the programs we use – to get better. Right now, I’m mostly working on compositing in NukeX.
How is Skellefteå as a student city?
Everything is pretty close. You can cycle through the entire city in such a short time. The student apartments from Skebo are great.
What’s the best thing about the education?
The best thing about the education is that you first get to try out all the different parts, such as 3D, Digital Compositing, Virtual Production, Motion Capture, etc. and then, during the second year, you get to choose a specialization in which you specialize. Networking opportunities thanks to the education and the companies behind it are also great.
